Who We Are
Established in 1991, Friends of Leclaire (FOL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the history and heritage of the Leclaire National Historic District. The organization promotes Leclaire heritage through advocacy, education, and community involvement.
Our Mission
Friends of Leclaire is dedicated to researching, publishing, and disseminating the architectural, historical, and cultural information of the Leclaire neighborhood of Edwardsville, Illinois, and to encourage the preservation and perpetuation of the Leclaire neighborhood, its history and traditions.
What We've Achieved
- Enhancing public awareness and support of Leclaire through educational programs and heritage tours.
- Documenting Leclaire’s architectural and social heritage.
- Encouraging Leclaire park and lake improvements.
- Active advocacy and participation in community planning.
- Providing technical assistance to preservation efforts.
- Cooperating with state, city and other organizations to publicize Leclaire’s history.
- Encouraging the study and publication of historical and architectural research.
- Maintaining financial and organizational independence.
